Brainstorming For Master Bedroom Remodel (with before pics)

OKAY! Pinterest, you are my friend. After many months of trying to decide what to do with the master bedroom, things are starting to come together. This is going to be a LONG post with a lot of pics, so be forewarned!! FIRST, I will post pics of how our bedroom looked when we first moved in, and in various stages of trying to take off wallpaper.
2 little monkeys jumping on the bed!

One fell off... oh, just kidding :) PLEASE take notice of the smoke damage on the wallpaper, the white strip around the top was a hideous floral and grapevine border that I never got a picture of.

Yeah, don't mind the mess, just moving in! Notice the tiny fan, (that stopped working 6 months after we moved in), and the plastic blinds on the sliding door. SO CUTE! ;)

So up til now, wallpaper has come off the walls. NOT so much in here. This yellow and green floral is the 3rd layer in, and is not budging. UGH. Tried spraying, and steaming, and scraping, it just does not come off. I think I will have another go with the steamer to see if I can work some magic.

This is the "bathroom door" and I use the term lightly. You will see why 3 pictures down.

More wallpaper loveliness

Even another kind was on there in years past
THIS is what my bathroom has looked like, pretty much from day one. It was NASTAY!!! Mildew and disgustingness. SO out it came, and we have yet to have a master bathroom a year into living here.

close up of "shower" and "toilet" :)

"Sink" and "shower". TINY master bathroom, oh do we have plans for you! The walk in closet will be ripped open to make a bigger bathroom.
This is all the adorable fixtures the hubby ripped out of the master bath.

The old wooden seat toilet! Glad that's gone. Sold for $25 on Craigslist. Yay!

These are pics from the spare bedroom, adjacent to the master. We are going to rip the wall out in the middle and make one big room.

from the hallway. The wall seperating will be ripped out and the bed will go between the windows.

laundry room, spare room, master bed doors. Wall will be brought out to the edge of laundry room door there.

Master closet as it stands now. This will become part of the bathroom. lovely wallpaper, I know.

We had some friends over to visit, and some ladies were giving me ideas on what to do. So I started "Pinteresting" and here is how that went:
1. So my thought process started like this. I love how clean and fresh and INVITING it looks!! Especially compared to my nasty partially de-wallpapered and smoke stained walls. LOL!! PLUS it would make the room look so much bigger. BUT big problem. What happens in the morning when hubby needs to shower and I have to see the light and hear it?? UMMMMMM no. My sleep is precious.
Not sure where the image is from, I found it on Pinterest.com. Here is the link: http://cdn.decorpad.com/photos/2010/12/05/6f5be6f27279.jpg
 2. So then I started thinking, how can I still incorporate the open floor plan idea, but still have privacy, and noise/light reduction. LIGHTBULB!!! And HELLO GORGEOUS!!!

3. Okay, so this one too. And this one! AAAAAHHH too many choices!!!

4. And that led to this... WAY cheaper and still looks just as good. Hubby didn't say no. I almost would like one for my bedroom door too!! They are that cool. Sliding barn doors inside. SO CHIC! AND you don't have to deal with door jambs and door knobs. For a lock, a simple slide bolt, or hook and eye. http://shabbylisaw.wordpress.com/2011/04/15/diy-barn-door-hardware/
Make your own door hardware for WAY cheaper than you can find online. Here is one of the tutorials I found on Pinterest.

So there you have it! Thought process completed! As for the actual barn doors, not sure if I would make them, or try to find some antique ones... I am all new to this barn door bit, but willing to try!!
I came home one day to this! Let the wall destruction commence :)

What a mess!

My bed is finally centered between the windows! We have been looking at closet systems at Ikea and will most likely get those soon. We can't do the bathroom remodel until we have a new closet as the old one is going to be bathroom space.
